Culture
On the cultural front, Switzerland, particularly the French-speaking part of the country, welcomes many artists from Wallonia-Brussels to festivals and cultural events every year, whether in the field of books, comedy, music, theatre, dance or the plastic arts. Switzerland is also one of the priority countries for the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in terms of film co-production, and the two communities have been working together on films and TV programmes for many years thanks to a co-production agreement.
Research & innovation and higher education
Relations between Switzerland and French-speaking Belgium are also very close in academic and research terms, with a number of cooperation partnerships between our universities and colleges, including the G3 project involving ULB and the University of Geneva.
Economy and trade
The structure of the Walloon/Belgian economy is quite similar to that of Switzerland, with a very high proportion of SMEs.
Trade between Switzerland and Belgium mainly involves pharmaceuticals and chemicals, as well as precious stones and metals, fuels and vehicles.
Swiss companies based in Belgium are mainly active in the food, pharmaceuticals, logistics and medical technology (MedTech) sectors.
