Wallonia-Brussels celebrated in style in Geneva!

On 26 September 2024, Wallonia-Brussels in Geneva was delighted to welcome many guests from the International Geneva and Switzerland at the Vieux Bois restaurant (Hotel Management School of Geneva) for a festive evening of sharing and discovery.

This was not only an opportunity to celebrate the annual festivities of Wallonia and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, but also to celebrate the many commitments of Wallonia and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation on the international stage this year. Ms. Sharon Weinblum, Delegate General of Wallonia-Brussels in Geneva, highlighted the governments’ efforts in favour of multilateralism, scientific and cultural cooperation, in order to make the world more inclusive and sustainable. She also emphasised the successful participation of Wallonia and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation during the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

A taste of Wallonia

Throughout the evening, the guests were also offered a glimpse of Belgian traditions and the gastronomic and cultural wealth of Wallonia. Wallonia-Brussels in Geneva, thanks to the support of Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX), had the chance to welcome the talented master chocolatier Euphrasie Mbamba from the SIGOJI company, who came all the way from the province of Namur to share her passion for chocolate with the attendees. Born in the heart of the cocoa plantations of her grandfather in Cameroon, Euphrasie Mbamba discovered the taste of chocolate at the age of 10 when her family moved to Belgium. She eventually went on to pursue a career in chocolate-making and was, among other things, elected chocolatier of the year for Wallonia by the Gault&Millau guide in 2019.

The delicious chocolate tasting, accompanied by Walloon beers, provided a chance to discover some of Wallonia's gourmet treasures!
