This Tuesday, November the 14th, the Wallonia-Brussels General Delegate in Geneva and her team had the pleasure of welcoming the Minister-President of Wallonia, M. Elio Di Rupo.
The Minister-President was on a business trip to Geneva in order of signing the framework agreement between the International Labour Organization and Wallonia. This agreement, signed by the Minister-President and the Director-General of the ILO, M. Gilbert Houngbo, sets the foundation for a new cooperation with the ILO and aims at making social justice move forward and at promoting decent labour around the world.
The Minister-President took advantage of his stay in Geneva to meet the Under Secretary General for National Society Development and Operations Coordination of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, M. Xavier Castellanos Mosquera. With the Under Secretary General of the largest humanitarian network in the world, the Minister-President was able to discuss humanitarian challenges around the world, particularly in Gaza and in Libya, the fundamental role played by the volunteers at the Red Cross and Red Crescent and the support of Wallonia towards the Federation.
A meeting with the Wallonia-Brussels General Delegate, Mrs. Sharon Weinblum, and her team was also on the schedule in order of exchanging about the priorities of Wallonia inside the organizations of the United Nations and the organizations located in Geneva.
