Following the signing of the framework agreement between Wallonia and the ILO, the Delegate General of Wallonia-Brussels, Ms. Sharon Weinblum, led multiple bilateral meetings with high-ranking officials from the ILO around the field of cooperation, notably with the Director of the Multilateral Partnerships Department, Peter van Rooij, and the Head of the Development Partners Relations, Francesco d’Ovidio.
The ILO stands among the priority international organisations of the Walloon government and, on November the 14th, 2023, the Minister-President Elio Di Rupo and the Director-General of the ILO, Gilbert Houngbo, signed a first framework agreement. This agreement aims particularly at promoting social dialogue, the reinforcement of tripartism, the liberty of association and of collective negotiation.
With this agreement, Wallonia commits itself to voluntarily contributing to concrete projects in order to promote the fundamental principles and values of the ILO, such as decent labour, social justice and the respect of international labour norms.
